The Confidence 7640 sewing machine has many features sewers love. With 200 stitches to choose from, you can create and embellish fashion, home décor and much more. There are built-in alphanumeric patterns too, so you can personalise projects with lettering. Sew buttonholes in one easy step with consistent results every time, choosing from 8 different buttonhole styles - such as the basic bartack style, round end and keyhole, great for menswear and outerwear. Programmable needle up/down is a must-have for quilting, sewing appliqué and even topstitching. When you select a stitch, the optimum stitch length and width are set for you, saving time, and you can customise stitches using the adjustable stitch length and width, shown on the LCD screen.
The top drop-in bobbin lets you easily monitor your thread supply so you don't run out of thread in the middle of a seam. You can set the machine's maximum sewing speed using the speed control lever - slower for more intricate projects or faster for long seams on curtains or duvets - so you're always in control. Take off the removable storage compartment to reach the free arm, which makes it even easier to sew around trouser hems and cuffs, children's clothing and other smaller projects. There is also an online Owner's Class video available whenever you'd like a little assistance.

- Built-in needle threader - threads the eye of the needle effortlessly, avoiding eye strain and saving you time.
- Top drop-in bobbin - easy to thread and easy to see. The transparent bobbin and cover let you monitor your thread supply so you don't run out of thread in the middle of a seam.
- Drop feed - the feed teeth can be lowered for button sewing or free-motion sewing - a must-have for quilters. Simply slide the drop feed lever to lower the feed teeth; slide it back and turn the handwheel one full turn to raise them again.
- Touch button stitch selection - select your stitch at the touch of a button. The optimum stitch length and width are preselected so you can start sewing faster, but the settings can be adjusted to customise them for your projects.
- Adjustable stitch length (4.5mm) - change the look of a stitch by increasing or decreasing the distance between stitches. Use this for techniques such as appliqué, basting and more.
- Adjustable stitch width (7mm) - the side-to-side size of the stitch is adjustable, so you can sew it narrower or wider as you wish.
- Reverse (touch button) - sew stitches in reverse, usually to secure a seam at the beginning and end to prevent unravelling.
- Heavy-duty metal frame - the machine's interior frame is metal, for long-lasting durability.
- Speed control (mechanical) - set the machine's maximum sewing speed.
- Start/stop button - sew without the foot control if you wish. Press the button to start sewing, then press again to stop.
- Needle up/down - select the needle's stopping position on demand.
- Programmable needle up/down - set the needle's stopping position as you wish. Have the needle stop down in the fabric each time you stop sewing - great for appliqué, topstitching and more.
- Automatic tension - the machine controls the tension for you.
- StayBright™ LED lights (1) - multiple lights on both sides of the needle give a clear view of the sewing area while eliminating shadows.
- LCD screen - clearly displays your selected stitch as well as the stitch length and width settings.
- Free arm - slide off the removable storage compartment to reach the free arm, making it easy to sew trouser hems, sleeve cuffs and other smaller or tubular projects.

Absolutely love my new machine and got it at a great price as it was an ex-display machine. I was pleased to learn that even though it was ex-display, it still came with a 10 year warranty. Customer services were brilliant with a couple of queries that I had and the machine arrived quickly. I would definitely recommend buying anything from here
It's just what I needed.
This is my third singer sewing machine, and only purchased this model, as it had start stop button, as finding foot deals had to use, due to nerve damage. Would highly recommend this machine, easy to carry to my craft club.
Fast delivery and a wonderful machine. I very pleased with its operation and easy to use controls. (This is from someone who was still using their grandmother’s 1915 hand cranked singer).
Took a few attempts to get the tension correct, once I’d sorted this though the machine works like a dream. Still learning all the functions but I’m so excited to learn everything I can do with my new machine.

I purchased my Singer Confidence 7640 Sewing Machine inc. Extension table as Ex Display in August I was thrilled, unfortunately the buttonhole attachment didn't work initially but all due respect the machine was collected sorted and returned within 48 hours excellent service so I am more than pleased with both the machine and the the support from Live Sewing however the threader is a little sensitive so I tend to handle with care but otherwise delighted
I got a ex display sewing machine it was all clean everything was there and it sews lovely and the help I got from starf befor I got it was fantastic will recommend
Love the sewing machine but find the reverse doesn’t always reverse if you don’t quite get your finger in the right place.
I have found this machine incredibly easy to use , amazed over the button holing how simple it is to do , the lettering , and the embrodery stitches .
I am very happy with my purchase. The machine was delivered within 48 hours of the order being submitted. The u tube demonstration was very helpful, I watched it several times. The machine is straightforward and simple to use, though I have not managed the automatic needle threader, perhaps I’ll just have to practice some more.
I am loving my Singer 7640 ex-display machine. A powerful machine which sews through several layers of material very easily. Well worth the extra money for this high powered machine. Perfect for making Curtains with thick blanket lining. I would give this machine 5 stars, except the self threading mechanism does not work. (Although I did not complain about it, to the suppliers). I highly recommend this machine, and love sewing on mine! Delivered within time stated on order.
I recently purchased a Singer Confidence. It is a super machine, so easy to use and a delight to handle. It does all the things I need it to do. I would have given it 5 stars but I bought an ex-display model and when it arrived it was missing some accessories but the customer service department solved that issue straight away. The only thing that remains missing is the key to the stitches. I managed to find an image of this and enlarged it and laminated it so problem solved. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and the way the company dealt with me.

An excellent machine lived up to its discription
I have been very pleased with this singer machine but recently I have had trouble with the needle threaded.
