Used the machine to make a large canvas sack to contain a stone statue for my son's birthday. Made 26 button holes with strong gold cotton to thread gold cord through to draw the sack together. The machine tackled the thick canvas with ease and the sack looked fantastic. Son loved it and he liked his present too! So pleased with this machine. Cannot recommend it enough. And by the way I have never made buttonholes before...brilliant machine!
The Singer Heavy Duty 4423 is my first sewing machine (I’m new to sewing) and it’s been a straightforward experience so far. Helped by some brilliant YouTube videos, I was able to set up the machine and start sewing. I also managed to find a video that explains what all the additional items that came with the sewing machine are for. The only thing I’m still confused about is what the different feet are for / when to use them. I guess I’ll figure it out in time. Highly recommend this machine for beginner sewers. It does everything I’ll possibly need.

Easy to set up. No manual so you have to download online. It replaced 40 years old machine.needle threader is very useful. Really good with stretchy fabric. Worth pointing ,out 10 years extended guarantee is only valid is the machine is services by singer. There are no local out let’s so have to send it away. 3service included plans is reasonable price . I haven’t purchased it yet.
I volunteer at my local Repair Cafe repairing sewing machines. Occasionally the ladies who do fabric repairs ask me to sew things like backpacks that are too heavy for their domestic machines. I have done so using a Sailrite heavy duty machine, but this is very heavy and too much to transport on a just in case basis. So I bought the Singer Heavy Duty to tackle these jobs. Fitted with topstitch thread and a suitable leather needle it has easily sewn 2mm of hard leather, so I feel it will be up to most if not all of the jobs we are given.
I am very happy with my new sewing machine. It storms through all the thick fabrics that caused my last machine to give up. I wasn’t sure about getting a display model but the online chat was helpful and reassuring, and the machine itself is in perfect condition. The freebies were highly appreciated too.

Only just started today, so still getting to grips with it. Now all threaded up correctly. Instructions are fairly clear except for automatic threading device which I managed more by luck than judgement when it came to part D. Machine seems well made but some parts a bit flimsy like the plastic bobbin cover. Will now start on project and see how I get on.!

What a treat to sew quickly and efficiently through 3 layers of thick fabric that my dressmaking Singer machine couldn’t manage. BUT this new machine struggled to attach the pockets on a tweed jacket that was lined with a faux suede - should I have bought the “denim” machine? I don’t work with denim but would have bought that one if I had known. (Ended up hand sewing the pockets on). Still love Singer though.
It arrived on time. I haven't used it, as it is a gift, but it looks perfect for 1st sewing machine for my granddaughter. It will last her a good few years.
I've yet to put it through it's paces but the machine seems very sturdy with clearly marked parts and weighty enough to feel strong yet not too heavy to lift. I was happy with the ordering process although delivery was a little slower than hoped and Evri took even longer to deliver the free gift. However, I'm very happy with it and look forward to as many years service as I had with my old machine (bought in 1976 and still going strong but now too heavy to lift).
